This Year's Model Updates:

The Chevy Malibu Maxx gets a few updates for 2006. Most interesting is a new performance-oriented SS trim level that features a 240-horsepower, V6 engine. Chevy has also juggled the trim levels: the base model is now called the LS, the former LS is now the LT, and last year's LT is now the LTZ. Other minor changes include freshened front-end styling, new wheel designs, flashier trim pieces for the instrument panel, a new four-spoke steering wheel and standard child security rear door locks on every trim level.

Pros:
  • Hatchback configuration makes for easy loading, spacious interior with adjustable rear seats, plenty of safety and convenience features, innovative remote-start feature, standard V6 power.
Cons:
  • Lackluster interior, subpar braking and steering, less cargo space than true wagons or SUVs.

Got a great deal for this 2 year old Maxx with 21,000 miles on it. Great car to drive. I had read the reviews about the steering feeling wierd, uh what are you talking about? This car handles great. The power is incredible. The Chevy maxx is a great utilitarian car. Oh and I am averaging 28 miles per gallon in mixed driving.

  • Fun, and stylish "family" car - 2006 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx

I was reluctant to get into a "sedan" since I gravitate toward the smaller, zippy foreign economy cars but I kept seeing these new Maxxs around and was struck by how cool they looked from the back. I decided on a whim to give it a test drive. It was so comfortable and felt so much more substantial than the other smaller cars I test drove. Ive had it for 6 months now and can say that Im loving this car. It also gets very decent gas mileage.. Not quite the 28 shown on the sticker..Im averaging about 26 on the highway, but Ill take that.

This vehicle is great. I was surprised by the amount of space. I especially love the hatchback. This is a great family car for a medium income family.

My Malibu Maxx has proven to be a real surprise by its versitility and gas mileage. Adding space by using the shelves and seats as needed, it has the capacity of much older station wagons with great gas mileage. The sunroof and control features make driving fun. Its V-6 has plenty of power because of its low weight.

My wife and I started from NJ with a drive through Pa., Va., and now into Tennessee, with Arknsas, Oklahoma, Texas, NM and Tucson ahead. Maxx as been fuel efficient, carrying needed luggage for the trip plus a 4 day stay at the Opry Land Hotel and room to spare. Our ride has been comfortable, handling a dream and peppy enough to feel comfortable easing into lanes on Rtes 81 and 40, truckers and all. Visibility is good, braking effective. Surprising seating room inside for what is essentially a small vehicle on the outside. All in all, a serendipity among the brands and models. We are enjoying Maxx on the road!

  • This is the Best Car Ever - 2006 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx

This car is very roomy and has lots of different things to try out. Everyone should experience a Malibu Maxx. There is a lot of leg room for tall people and the comfort is just like if you were at home relaxing in your favorite chair.

  • Underrated Excellent Competitor - 2006 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx

Maxx is a mini-Saab. Good foreign feel, interior a bit basic. If Chevy invested in upgraded interior materials this car can compete with imports hands down. Good mileage, great pickup excellent style. I researched BMW, Saab, Volkswagon Wagons Maxx best value for the dollar. Just wish the interior could compete with imports.
